Code of Ethics
Recognizing the responsibility of every automobile dealer to maintain high standards of business ethics and integrity, as members in good standing of the Greater Hartford Automobile Dealers Association, we subscribe to the following principles of advertising and pledge to:
1. Advertise our products in a positive, factual and informative manner, accurately and truthfully in every respect and free from any misuse of wording, illustrations, typographical arrangement or omission of vital information that might mislead or deceive the reader.
2. Agree to sell any vehicle according to the terms and conditions advertised.
3. Clearly identify any advertised vehicle as to new, used, demonstrator or daily rental.
4. Refrain from use of the terms "Executive", "Company Official" or similar terms unless it can be proven that those individual drivers were executives or officials of the manufacturer or dealer.
5. Refrain from using captions such as "Wholesale", "Factory Invoice", "At Cost", or "Below Invoice".
6. Show in a clear manner if a used car has been a taxicab or police car.
7. Advertise all vehicles to include federal tax, the cost of delivery, dealer preparation and any other charges of any nature, except any state or local tax or registration fee.
8. Identify by stock number all specially-priced vehicles.
9. To advertise in accordance with all "Truth-In-Lending" legislative acts any finance or lease terms and if a price is quoted on a specific vehicle to detail an example as to number of payments, down payment, finance charges and total cost.
10. To use only those manufacturer's logos in our advertising that apply to our individual franchises.
We accept these principles and pledge this organization to abide by them.
